Fitting wall hooks with hollow wall anchors

Fitting hollow wall anchors into tile or plaster

Resources

Below are links to the 2  'How to' videos mentioned above. The first is a Bunnings clip. The relevant section is the part illustrating how to drill into tiled wall (approx 30 seconds in). The second video demonstrates how to fit a hollow wall anchor. It shows fitting to plasterboard, but it is the same for tiles. The only difference will be the drill bit (see instruction below).

Instructions

a) Mark the locations for the wall hooks.

b) Using a 12mm drill bit and the instruction on the packet *drill the holes.  *See video link 1 for instructions for safely drilling into tile.

b) *Install the wall anchor. *See video link 2 for instructions. Please note: while screwing, the claws of the wall anchor will score and grip the tile face (initially it may spin but stay with it until it grips - excessive force not needed).

c) Once installed, remove the screw from the centre of the wall anchor and discard.

d) Screw the supplied threaded rod into the rear of your wall timber hook

e) Fit the wall hook to the anchor by winding into place until firmly tight. The head of the wall anchor will sit snugly within the rebate at the rear of the wall hook.
